We discuss the phase diagram for water. We define normal boiling and freezing points and discuss the uniqueness of water in that it expands when it freezes.
Atomic Theory: Orbital Diagrams and Determining Ionic Charge

We draw simple orbital diagrams, then discuss the octet rule and how they are used to determine the ionic charge of an element.
Atomic Theory: Electron Dot Pictures and the Periodic Table
Просмотров 2854 года назад
The electron dot picture of an element can be determined by its position on the periodic table. Also, family/group names on the periodic table are given.
Atomic Theory: Electron Dot Pictures (b)
Просмотров 1104 года назад
A continuation of the discussion of dot pictures. We complete the elements Mangnesium - Krypton (leaving out "d" block elements).
Atomic Theory: Electron Dot Pictures (a)

i describe the process of drawing electron dot pictures of the elements Hydrogen through Sodium.
Introduction to Chemistry: The Atomic Theory - Bohr Model (c)
Просмотров 2384 года назад
We conclude our discussion of the Bohr model of the atom. We talk about flame tests and discuss valence electrons and the 2n2 rule related to the maximum number of electrons in an energy level. We then determine the number of valence electrons in several atoms.
Introduction to Chemistry: Atomic Theory - Bohr Model (b)
Просмотров 1384 года назад
We examine the emission spectra of hydrogen, helium, mercury and neon and relate this to the Bohr model of the atom.
Electrolyte Demonstration

Nice
nice experiment very helpful
I was buy 99,9% clean KCl but the flame test show orange flame colore , its indicate to me NaCl. Am I right?! Is that any other way to determine KCl?!
Thanks :) It's great to hear someone pronounce ammonium thiocyanate.
Thank you! I was struggling!
What easily differentiate Li salt an Sr salt in the flame
I don't know who you are, I don't know where you are, but you're teaching me & I love it. Thank you for your likely unintentional, online chemistry course.
Where can I get one of these?
What's the difference between the color of barium ions and and copper (I) ions ????
Thanks. I would have loved to get a 360 view of the distiller so I could see the setup well.
This is a very good experiment. It has interested me a lot. Very nice 👍
70 years old, been in electronics for 50 years. Very enlightening presentation. Even better yet, I am proud to see anybody that knows electricity is electrons flowing, and they go from negative to positive. The major publishers and educators pushing for the last 75 years to make a positive to negative current flow, including arrow direction on transistors, at least to me, is a crime against common sense. I will recommend this to anybody new coming along. YOU ARE A GENTLEMAN AND A SCHOLLAR!
What about Rhodium 9 either way to Kr or Xe, will it favour loss over gain?
So was the magnet actually repelling and attracting the flow? Wouldn't the magnetic field create a force perpendicular to the magnetic field and the direction of the electron flow?
You send me a message what is that second one you send me at tomorrow at 10:00 am
What university is this? Y’all have a cathode ray????
Amazing teacher !!
Thank you! I love this video because it presents a clear visual of how the experiment works in real time and you quickly describe the conclusion of Thompson. I was having trouble picturing it for my college lecture so this rocks!
X rays, kiddies, Xrays!
I'm a bit late, but thank you to everyone who still watches such stuff. We've reached over 1,000,000 views! BTW, I'm still teaching high school chemistry. I'm currently in Idaho Falls, ID (USA)
Dchummer CHEMISTRY…
Like No2 😂
this video saved me for my new chem unit, thank you 😭
Thanks for explanation
Saint ursule i guess ?
Thanks a lot sir, your video has improved my understanding on this topic. Your way of presentation is awesome!!!
When continuous long time boiling and evaporating causes continuous liquid decrease, what is a good way of continuous auto refill?
ماهي الماده التي اشتغلت عليها
I need to know why the bottom of the flask was warm after the crystallization.
Interesting helium still works better
came in clutch fr 💯
luoA?
yessir
@@sammathis6634 grade?
im in the same boat as you
yuppers, i swear if im sittinng here trying to catch up and get one more case of 3 labs in a week imma throw a brick at my pc
@@drewnewhart6821 chem is driving me insane, i'm behind like two weeks cause i can't get a lab paper printed
Is it ink?
yes
Nice experiment, although I wouldn't say the pole of the magnet is negative.
Wow electroboom! Hi
LMAO im doing my semi conductors class, so funny i see you here
Is the chromate to dichromate reaction an exothermic or endothermic reaction?
Love how you explain why it's happening the way it is. How was it proven they’re were protrons existing with deflecting and reflection of the Rutherford experiment? thank you for your simplicity and engagement!!
Other than that the gas could have been ignited by static from the baloon it was a cool demonstration.😀
who else is also doing a lab assignment for school? lmao
me
LOL still trying to figure out this damn assignment, wish yall luck on it@@spider8830

Who would be watching this for fun?
@@sammathis6634 lmao you would be suprised man
Very interesting to watch
Yeah, Mr. White..Science
X-rays?
I understood this concept through experiment
It can kill braincells via asphyxiation. Same as helium. When you breath in hydrogen, it displaces air in lungs. You do not notice this, as your body still thinks lungs is full of gas. But this deprives your braincells of oxygen, and they start to die. That's why its so dangerous to do this.
How does the video quality look so good given this was shot 14 years ago?!
Nice demo but the explanation about the relation between the magnet polarity and the deflection of the ray is wrong. One would need to reason more carefully about the direction of the B field due to the magnetic dipole and then use the right-hand rule to determine the direction of force on the charges (qv x B).
This is an ancient video.
Wow, so many comments that prove 99% of people have no idea of what they are talking about. For All of you research the term "Hydrogen Inhalation Therapy" Then come back and post an informed comment.
I just want to understand something. What is the source of this particular beam, isn't it because of the electric current? But it is not at the same speed, so how did it get out of the pole? What happens to the pole structure so that the electrons come out
